Scripts/Writing

Featured on this page are excerpts from game scripts and short film scripts, displaying my ability to write for video games. A variety of works are displayed here, including giving the player instructions and tutorials, as well as cutscene scripts.

For the Love of Communications (excerpt)
An excerpt from “For the Love of Communications.” This is an action comedy game, featuring Brian Campbell, a young man sent on a mission to destroy a bipedal walking tank, strangely similar to Metal Gear, and prevent it from launching a local access show. This scene shows the player receiving direct instructions from the apparently incompetent Colonel.

Zombie Survival Tutorial
This is a tutorial script from “Zombie Survival,” a zombie action game with strategy elements. It shows the player learning how to play from the actions of both the protagonist and an NPC partner. It presents a twist on the tutorial formula, featuring the player’s character teaching an NPC else how to do it, and having that person fail. The player then needs to show the NPC how to perform said actions by actually performing them in-game. It also shows a slightly developing relationship between two characters.

Day of the New Kid
This is from “Day of the New Kid,” a short film. It may not be game writing, but it does prominently display character interactions, well-timed comedy, and character development. This features a few brief scenes of misfortune for the protagonist, Dexter.

Elaborate Ways (excerpt)
This is from “Elaborate Ways,” an adventure game with time travel elements. This scene shows the end of an act, where Martin, best friend of protagonist Max, is erased from time. It shows the thought process of Max having to figure out what to do, simultaneously giving the player indirect instructions of where to begin for the next act.
